Location: Penmon Point

Anglesey has a great diversity of marine and bird life. The ‘paddle with a puffin’ guided wildlife kayak trips will give participants the chance to get up close and personal with marine life in a way that is difficult to achieve by any other means.

The sea kayak is a traditional inuit craft for hunting and fishing. It is ideally adapted for the task of gaining a close experience of marine life as it is not identified as a threat by sea creatures and it’s slow and almost silent approach allows for much closer access. It’s shallow draught and manoeuverability can take it to places that powered craft cannot reach.

The guided trips will take participants out to Puffin Island – Ynys Seiriol – on the South-East corner of Anglesey where Puffin nest alongside a profusion of other sea birds including: Kittiwake, Cormorant, Shag, Razorbills and Guillemot. There is also a resident atlantic grey seal population.

These paddles are suitable for paddlers with some kayaking experience (not complete beginners) and over 14 years of age.

This paddle is being run as part of the Anglesey Walking Festival. There are a limited number of free spaces available for this course funded by the Isle of Anglesey County Council AoNB team. Please email to check availability.
